Located in the Overseas Passenger Terminal at The Rocks, Cruise Bar’s multi-million dollar design gives it the look and feel of an ultra-glamorous, ultra-contemporary cruise ship, with walls of glass overlooking Sydney Cove, passing ferries and passenger boats.
Cruise boasts near-perfect vistas of the Opera House – except when a cruise liner docks for a few hours and obstructs the view – but that 's an awe-inspiring sight in itself.
The venue is set over three levels. The ground floor is a relaxed, casual meeting place with a waterside al fresco area, comfy lounges and a sleek, shiny bar (check out the amazing multi-coloured light wall). Foods include seafood platters, prawns, oysters, steaks, antipasti and cheeses.
For those seeking something a little more intimate, upstairs is a posh cocktail lounge and a pricey-but-highly-regarded restaurant replete with white linen, sparkling silverware and elegant chandeliers. The third level is a private function room and from there, the views are truly phenomenal.
Cruise attracts a mixed crowd and it's less touristy than the location might suggest. It’s a sensational spot for an afternoon drink and the cocktail menu is classy and innovative. DJs provide entertainment Thursday through Sunday, and on Friday night, a suave piano man croons in the cocktail lounge.
