Sydney’s biggest annual congregation of foodies, the Taste of Sydney festival, returns for 2011 over four days in March. Beautiful Centennial Park will be transformed into a culinary paradise, with the city’s top restaurants showcasing their signature dishes at outdoor market-style stalls for the Taste of Sydney.
Taste offers a unique opportunity to sample some of Sydney’s most famed dishes for a fraction of their normal price. Create your ultimate degustation as you sip, sample and graze your way through the festival to a soundtrack of chilled live music and the aroma of the outdoor kitchens at work. Indulge in an entree from Balzac, a main from Bilson’s and dessert from Becasse – this is the stuff of gastronomic dreams. Over 50 dishes will be available to sample, so bring some friends and don’t forget to share. You’ll also meet some of the city’s most respected artisan producers at the Taste Producers Market, with all their most desirable goodies on display for you to try and buy.
A superb roster of chefs will show off their skills and share the secrets of their favourite dishes in the Taste Kitchen. Vino lovers can relax with some great drops, talk grapes and learn top tips from the experts at the Taste Wine Theatre. This year food fans will also get the chance to meet their favourite chefs over a glass of wine and canapés at the Chef’s Table.
HelloSydney Tip: Buy your tickets in advance from the Taste of Sydney website. The premium ticket ($55) includes a book of 30 "Crowns" – the currency used at the festival to purchase drinks and dishes. Tickets and Crowns are also available on the door.
