I’m Free is a tour company run by a couple of passionate Sydney locals, Justine and Ross, that true to its name, hosts free Sydney walking tours. Sydney is fabulous place to visit. But, it has to be said, it is one expensive city, and it is kinda lacking in stuff to do for free, which makes I'm Free Sydney walking tours that much more fabulous.
You don’t have to be on a shoestring budget to go on an I’m Free walking tour. You don’t even have to be a tourist. Not only is the tour honestly, absolutely, no questions asked free free free, it’s actually very, very good too. The tours run every day (except Christmas Day) at 10:30am and 2:30pm from Sydney Town Hall – no bookings needed. It’s an easy three hour stroll that explores the history, culture and lifestyle of the city and introduces you to many of its most famous landmarks and attractions. The knowledgeable guides share the stories and secrets behind many of Sydney’s icons – even lifelong Sydneysiders may find themselves surprised by their insights. As well as stopping by at the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, the Rocks and Sydney Tower, you’ll be introduced to other history-rich pockets of the city, including Cadman’s Cottage, the "Rum" Hospital, the Tank Stream and Hyde Park Barracks.
The walking tour is a great way to get your bearings when you first arrive in Sydney. You’re even provided with a free map so you can easily revisit your favourite tour-stops later. The I’m Free tour leaders are university students, and while they undoubtedly appreciate tips from satisfied participants, it’s clear that they do what they do out of love for their city – and their enthusiasm is nothing short of infectious.
