Description

No trip to Sydney is complete without a visit to its most famous building. And the best thing to do when you visit the Sydney Opera House is to come inside and see an opera performance.

Once you have selected your choice of performance at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Sydney Opera House, simply make your own way to the legendary performing arts venue for a quintessential Sydney experience.

Emerging stars join longtime favorites for Opera Australia's seasonal opera performances, which take place in the Joan Sutherland Theatre (formerly the Opera Theatre), the second largest concert hall in the Sydney Opera House at 1,507 seats. Operas are performed in their original languages (mostly Italian), with subtitles in English projected on a screen above the stage.

Turandot synopsis

Meet a brutal princess and an impossibly brave suitor, who will make any sacrifice to win her love. This classic production of Puccini’s famous final opera features beautiful choreography and the most famous aria of all time — ‘Nessun dorma’.

Princess Turandot has sworn that no man shall marry her unless he can answer three riddles. If he fails, he will die. Captivated by Turandot’s beauty, Prince Calaf takes up the challenge, determined to win her heart or die in the attempt.

Turandot is a fantasy opera of poetry and myth, set in an exotic world where fear and love go hand in hand and death is always just around the corner.

See it if you like ballet, famous tunes, exotic fairytales.

Running time: approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, including two intervals

Sung in Italian with English and Simplified Chinese Surtitles
